There is an exciting opportunity to participate in hands-on science education during outdoor recreational activities in nearby Harriman and Bear Mountain State Parks, NY. While people hike, picnic, boat, fish, or just enjoy the outdoors, they can also learn about important Environmental and Geological principles first hand. Beautiful illustrations of principles of how water and pollutants flow, how faults move, how iron ore is formed, how magma intrudes into rock, why acid mine drainage occurs, what the roots of great mountains look like, how glaciers moved, among many others are shown in excellent rock exposures. These aesthetic yet instructional rock exposures can be experienced and enjoyed by individuals, families, hiking groups, and school groups alike. Several trial-run fieldtrips for a variety of people were effective for science education and greatly enjoyed. There are several ways to access your science education. This is a a virtual reality field trip. People can see what is available and what they will experience during their outdoor recreational excursion and plan accordingly.
